Proverbs 10:12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: But love covereth all sins.
As a missionary you will be called on to train men. They will fail and you will be hurt. How you deal with their failures and those of your co laborers will determine much of your success and show your character. It will also definitely show what is in your heart. This is no excuse for being easy on sin but the verse does say that love covers ALL sins. That doesn’t mean that sin goes undealt with but rather that it will handled differently than many. It will not be handled publicly from the pulpit. Nor will the preacher gossip about it to everyone as “he asks for prayer help” but the preacher will follow Biblical instruction and speak to the man in private with the goal of gaining his brother. Matthew 18:15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
Do not fall into the trap of not speaking to the man about his problem. If you love him you will deal with it and keep it to yourself as much as possible. Love covers all sins.
Proverbs 10:18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, And he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.
Don’t be a fool! Open rebuke is better than secret love. Let your mouth say what is in your heart. You are a fool if you lie and slander due to the hatred that is in your heart. People can see right through you over a course of time. If you do not love the people that God has called you to serve no amount of telling them what they want to hear will make up for the hatred and bad attitude you hide in your heart. Learn to love and then speak the truth in your heart.
