Numbers 28:30 And one kid of the goats, to make an atonement for you.

The book of Numbers continually explains to us that God has a plan for our salvation. We have sinned. We cannot fix our mess! Only God can! God’s plan includes a substitute that will take our place. In this verse it is the goat that makes atonement for us.

All of this points to the coming of Jesus who will make atonement for us! He will take our place. He will carry our sin. He will suffer for us in our place.

We should realize today that nothing in us makes us worthy of being saved. We receive a wonderful, free, grace, gift from God the Father through Jesus, His Son!

Tomorrow’s reading Numbers 29

Enlisted in the Service of the Lord

Acts 11:25 Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:

The work is more than one can do. Barnabas goes to Tarsus to get Saul and get him into the work. Several interesting things come to mind when I consider this verse.

Saul was saved by the grace of God and Barnabas was confident of that.

Barnabas was confident that Saul would want to serve if given the opportunity or he wouldn’t have made the trip.

The ministry is about more than doing it yourself it is about getting others involved.

Saul didn’t have to have some special prayer time or calling to go through the open door of service that will lead to an entire life of service.

Teamwork was the way to get that first real mission’s church going.

I hope you will consider where you belong in God’s plan of world evangelism right now. What are you doing in the service of the Lord? Are you available to get involved on short notice? Will you leave what you are doing to do something that is more important?
