Numbers 29:1 And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it is a day of blowing the trumpets unto you.
The entire chapter talks of a time that they stopped work and worshipped. It speaks of sacrifice after sacrifice that they were to make. Two thoughts come to mind.
Jesus death cannot be described by the death of animals but when you consider how He is the all sufficient sacrifice and see all the sacrifices they offered you know that He is a wonderful substitute! The sacrificed a week and all of that was simply of picture of what Jesus and does for us!
The second thought is that they took time out of their schedules to give protracted time to the worship of the Lord. Jesus deserves our time. He deserves our attention. Let’s take time to worship!
Tomorrow’s reading Numbers 30
Acts 14:2 But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.
God’s people have always faced opposition. It should come as no surprise to us today that the same will happen to us! Satan, sin, and rebellious people will stir up any they can to reject the Lord Jesus and to fight those that preach the truth!
Do not be surprised when opposition comes. Stand and do what you know God wants you to do!
