Proverbs 16:28 A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.
This word froward refers to perverse or fraud. This person isn’t what he says he is. He loves to spread gossip and hurt the reputation of other believers. It is a sad reference to a false person.
Not only does he spread it or sow it but he is a whisperer. He likes to give you the idea that he is telling you something important. He wants you to know that he is important enough to know certain things. He likes to use what he thinks he knows to separate friends. Everyone he can pull down to his level or lower will make him look better to himself.
Obviously being a froward, false, perverse fraud is to be avoided. Sowing strife is to be avoided. Being a whispering gossip is to be avoided.
