Today’s reading Genesis 1-3
Genesis 3:12-13 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. 13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
The first man sinned. Immediately, when he was confronted with his sin he tries to shift the blame. It is not my fault. It is the woman you gave me. It is not my fault. It is her fault. Really it is your fault because you gave her to me.
The woman when faced with her sin follows the same practice. She blames someone else.
No one wants to face the situation and say that they have sinned. I want to blame others. What might be sin in someone else’s life is a mistake in mine.
We should learn today that we are responsible for our own actions. It is not God that causes us to sin, or gives us our sins. It is not fate. It is not the way we are born. We choose to sin.
Our choosing to sin is a result of our sin nature but even that can’t be blamed. I am at fault.
You really can’t something right if you haven’t done anything wrong.
Will you admit that you have sinned? Will you admit that you need to turn from your sin to obey your Lord and Savior?
