Isaiah 55:10 For as the rain cometh down, And the snow from heaven, And returneth not thither, But watereth the earth, And maketh it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: It shall not return unto me void, But it shall accomplish that which I please, And it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. 12 For ye shall go out with joy, And be led forth with peace: The mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. 13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, And instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: And it shall be to the LORD for a name, For an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
God’s Word accomplishes its purposes. Notice the comparison. As the rain and snow come down from heaven and waters the earth so shall His Word.
It will accomplish His purposes. You can trust God’s Word to do exactly what He purposes.
The Word of God will cause great joy. His Word prospers. It causes His people to go out with joy. Because of His Word His people will be led in peace.
The mountains and hills will be excited to see what God’s Word is going to do.
Where thorns and briers might come up His Word will cause fir and myrtle trees to come up. God will turn the world around through His Word.
As I read this it encourages me to know that God’s Word will get the job done. If I will just preach faithfully what He says His Word will be the cause of great joy. His Word will cause great results. The earth will produce great value in this illustration.
So with this passage I give you a challenge. Let’s preach the Word of God. Let’s just give the people what God has given us. God always has a message. It doesn’t depend on or wait on my emotions. His Word is powerful and will always work.
I might not see the results as quickly as I could manufacture but they will be His results and lasting. Instead of quickly growing thorns and briers we will have great trees that have worth and purpose.
Let’s preach the Word!
