As missionaries to closed countries go out they will have to decide how to deal with persecution and how to train their people. Mark Tolson has written some good material. I thought you might enjoy reading this:
Types of Persecution
You will be laughed at and people will doubt your intelligence for your belief by faith, but in the end you will have a stronger assurance of you belief and stand for Christ.
Act 17:31-32 “Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead. And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter.”
You will think that you are doing something wrong and that they just hate you because of who you are, but in reality they hate you for what you stand for, Christ.
John 15:18-19 “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.”
You will physically be punished so that you might deny your faith and God, if you hold strong you will encourage others to follow Christ.
No matter how the death may be, if you are tortured unto death and your body marred like the Lord Jesus, you will receive your glorified body and enter into heaven as your home.
2 Corinthians 5:8 “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”
Act 7:59-60 “And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.”
2 Corinthians 11:23-28
“Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.
- Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.
- Thrice was I beaten with rods,
- once was I stoned,
- thrice I suffered shipwreck,
- a night and a day I have been in the deep;
- In journeyings often,
- in perils of waters,
- in perils of robbers,
- in perils by mine own countrymen,
- in perils by the heathen,
- in perils in the city,
- in perils in the wilderness,
- in perils in the sea,
- in perils among false brethren;
- In weariness and painfulness,
- in watchings often,
- in hunger and thirst,
- in fastings often,
- in cold and nakedness.
- Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.”
