“Precious in the sight of the LORD
is the death of his saints.”
Throughout the history of China, for some reason, for some purpose, God chose to glorify himself through his persecuted church. As God has chosen this road for the Chinese believers, I think we can find God’s purpose in His Word and see that this is not just meant for them, but is part of His plan for His Church.
After supper was ended and He got done washing the disciple’s feet, Jesus was teaching his disciples the cost of following him. This was not to be taken lightly, but Jesus was telling his disciples the cost they would have to pay if they decided fully follow him. Before he told his disciple to go, He said you will live a life of persecution and a life of hatred. He gave the cost of following him before he said “go ye.” This is what the Chinese church is experiencing today. They are experience the world and Satan’s hate for God. The Chinese government does not hate their own people, but they hate their decision to follow after Christ. And we know that if Jesus was persecuted, he was all the way to death, then his church also would suffer the same.
“If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.”
We have to keep in mind that God is in control of all and that the reason persecution exist is because the world doesn’t know the Lord. This is even more reasoning for us to go and take the message of Jesus to China and the rest of the world!
