II Peter 2:3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
False teachers are not so interested in the lies they tell as in the money they make. They want to use religion to make money. So they lie to people who are gullible enough not to check their Bibles. These false teachers know that most people will not study their Bibles enough to know the truth. They can teach anything they want cloaked in religion and Bible talk even if it isn’t true. They can make money using the Bible.
Tomorrow’s reading II Peter 3
Who or what are you trusting?
Psalm 20:7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
These are uncertain times. We need to know where to place our trust. In easy times we forget to seek God. We think of ourselves as strong. When things start falling apart we seek God. Maybe before we seek God we turn to our chariots-jobs or our horses-bank accounts. We look to friends to help us out but finally when there are none left we seek God.
That is backwards. We need to seek Him now. We need to trust God and remember to take all of our problems to Him immediately.
