Colossians 3:12-13 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
We are told to put off and to put on. We are to put off what we have done for so long and what comes naturally to us. We are to put on the new and what is of Christ but has never been really of us.
We are the children of God, His elect. We are holy and beloved. As such we need to put on a heart of compassion-mercy. We need to be kind, have a mind that thinks more of others and their needs than of our own. We need to learn to suffer for a long time with others or be super patient.
We need to just learn to put up with others and their hurts towards us and failures. We are to learn to forgive.
All of this is new to us but it is who we are now. So today think in terms of who you are in Christ and live out by His power what He has put in you! Christ in you the hope of glory!
Tomorrow’s reading Colossians 4 and I will give a reading plan for June
