Both my wife and I grew up in a Christian home and were saved at a young age. While Beth surrendered to be a missionary at the age of eleven, my testimony is a little different.
Although I was saved, as a teenager I didn’t really live for the Lord until after I graduated high school and was in college. I realized that my life had no purpose and was empty outside of living for the Lord. It was then that I surrendered my life to Him and was willing to do whatever He wanted.
After a couple of years serving in my church, I realized that the Lord wanted me to serve Him full time, so I packed up my things and left for Bible college. Three years later, and now married, I graduated, and a few weeks later we left for Peru and from there took a survey trip to Bolivia to see if that is where the Lord wanted us to be missionaries.
While visiting Bolivia the one thing that impacted me was to see Mormons, Jehovahs Witness and many others teaching their doctrine but there was very few preaching the true gospel. We immediately returned home and began to raise our support as missionaries in Bolivia. After raising our support, we spent almost two years in Peru doing language school and our internship with our Pastor Austin Gardner where we learned not only language but also how to do the ministry.
We have now been serving in Bolivia for twelve years, and as missionaries, with Vision Baptist Missions our goal is to reach the Bolivian people, train Bolivian pastors and teach them to reach their own people with the gospel. We are currently working in our third church plant with plans to start a few more churches shortly.
