Leviticus 26:19 And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass: 20 And your strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits.
Everything Israel has is a result of God’s goodness to them. It doesn’t take long though to begin to think that we are the one that has brought about our own success. We begin to get prideful of the power that God has given us.
He is warning His people that He can make all their future efforts be worthless. He is the one that gave the blessings and He can take them away as well. It is not the amount of work that we have done but His blessings that made us.
As I think on this verse I see how prideful I get. I see what God has done in my life and begin to think that I have done something. I begin to have an incorrect attitude towards others. I begin to have an attitude that says that I am good, that I deserve my success, that I achieved my success.
God has a way of bringing us back to Him. He has a way of humbling His people. This humbling never feels good but is necessary. Without Him we are nothing. When we think we are then we are without Him. So I need God’s discipline in my life
I often experience this discipline from hands that I wouldn’t expect or don’t think that should discipline me. But this we must all remember; He is the source. He is the one that brings us to Him. He is the one that does the ministry.
I want to break easily. I want to bow so that He can continue to bless me and work in my life.
