Judges 18:24 And he said, Ye have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and ye are gone away: and what have I more? and what is this that ye say unto me, What aileth thee?
Micah has made himself some gods. He has hired a priest. He has made up his own religion.
Most of us would think this is laughable but the sad part is that many of us today have done the same thing. We just wouldn’t call our gods a god.
Micah has to protect his god. Someone comes along and steals his gods. There he is running after them protesting, crying, and eventually giving up.
We make up gods secretly in our hearts, education, money, retirement, popularity, etc and never say anything out loud. However, it shows in our actions, the way we spend our money, the way we spend our time.
We also get distraught when something happens to our gods. We have to be ever vigilant not to lose what means so much to us!
Consider and give your opinion!
Tomorrow’s reading Judges 19
It is God that gets the victory
Joshua 10:42 And all these kings and their land did Joshua take at one time, because the LORD God of Israel fought for Israel.
Joshua and his men return to their homes very tired. They have fought with all that is within them. But the battle was won by the Lord. Joshua was able to win great victories but it was God that did the work.
There are a couple of lessons for us as we serve God today in these verses. God blesses us as we work hard. We can’t sit in the tent waiting for God to win the battle. They got up and they went out. They fought.
But it was God that won the victory. No matter how hard we work or what we do real blessing and success will only come as God gets involved. We must pray. We must seek His face. We must ask Him to work because without Him nothing is going to happen.
May the Lord work with us and build His church for His honor and His glory!
