Revelation 15:1-8 And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; (finally all the horrible events are coming to an end!) for in them is filled up the wrath of God. 2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. 3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. 4 Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest. 5 And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened: 6 And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles. 7 And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever. 8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.
16:1-21 And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth. 2 And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image. 3 And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea. 4 And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood. 5 And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus. 6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy. 7 And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments. 8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. 9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory. 10 And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain, 11 And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds. 12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared. (The east refers to the orient, the area of the rising sun, China, Japan, India maybe.) 13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs (notice the Bible uses the word like which indicates that they are not necessarily literal frogs though God did send literal frogs in the time of Moses!) come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. 15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. 16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon. 17 And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. 18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. 19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. 20 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. (The entire landscape changes in this earthquake, mountains are gone as well as the islands) 21 And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent (between 100 and 125 pounds each): and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.

  • Don’t forget that this book is the Revelation of Jesus Christ
  • It is a book about Him
  • Don’t get caught up in horsemen, earthquakes, floods, and plagues-look for and see Jesus!
  • As you read the book of Revelation you see another side of the LORD Jesus. Everywhere we see and hear of His love but here we see and hear of His wrath
  • Never forget that one day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is Lord

Philippians 2:9-11 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

  • Satan has been killing God’s people but God does get the last word and vengeance!
  • This 7 plagues will be the filling up, finishing, last of His wrath during the Tribulation Period

God is super angry

  • They have shed the blood of God’s people and He is now judging them

16:5 And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus. 6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy. 7 And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.

  • The angel has the heart of God and recognizes Him for who He is
  • God is righteous-doing the right thing
  • Recognizes Him as the one that lives
  • Says that they are deserving of what is happening to them
  • What God does is right the angel says!
  • Men show Him no respect, honor, and glory

15:4 Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.

  • They realize that with what God is doing now all will soon be worshipping before Jesus
  • After all the years of relative silence God is clearly on the move
  • They have chosen the beast over the Lamb

16:2 And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.

  • They refuse to repent of their deeds

16:11 And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.

  • As you read of His anger please notice that men chose not to repent
  • They preferred to continue to mock and curse God

Men’s reaction to the wrath of God

Romans 2:4-5 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? 5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

  • They blasphemed the name of God

16:9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

  • They refuse to repent and give Him glory

11 And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.

  • They continue to blaspheme all the way through

16:21 And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.

  • You would think that they would recognize God for who He is after all this but they do not. They are brainwashed. They are stubborn and rebellious.

The victorious are singing their new songs!

15:3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. 4 Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.

  • The song of victory is an old one for the people of God and goes back to Moses Exodus 15:1–21,
Deuteronomy 32:1–43
  • There is also the song of the Lamb 5:9–12
  • They recognize that God is great even though they have been killed–do we recognize Him as great when things are not going our way?
  • They see His works as marvelous though they have suffered, died, left their families etc!
  • His ways are right-just and they are true
  • They recognize Him as their king
  • They believe everyone should recognize Jesus for who He is and glorify Him
  • They know that are are going to bow the knee and worship Him!

Be prepared or get embarrassed

16:15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

  • He is coming. He is at work
  • Believers should be abreast of what He is doing in the world
  • We should keep up with what the Bible teaches
  • We should not be waiting another day to get things ready for His coming.

Changes that need to take place immediately in our lives

            • We should have an awesome fear and respect for God. Get rid of the flippant, take it or leave it attitude towards Him, His Word, and sin
            • Know that God does all things well and what we do not understand we will simply believe and act on it
            • Get a song in the middle of crisis
            • Have no bitterness towards God or anyone else about what is happening in our lives or to us
            • Know that nothing happens unless it is for my best and that I will gladly accept and trust God with it
            • Prepare yourself more everyday to be the man or woman that God made you to be
