I Samuel 30:6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.
David’s mistakes have caught up with him. He has been living in the land of the Philistines. His city has now been destroyed and his family taken. His own men are so angry with him that they want him dead. He is alone. He has no where to turn but to the Lord.
David gets alone with God. He encourages himself in the Lord. He may be wrong. He may have made mistakes but the grace of God is bigger than his mess ups. God still loves him and wants to use him.
He gets his heart back. He gets back on track. He gets in touch with God and finds out that God will bless him. He wins the next battle and the hearts of his men.
So many times your world will seem to fall apart! It will seem that everything is going wrong. That is not the time to run but the time to get close to God. Let Him fix in you what is wrong. Let Him strengthen you so that you can do great things.
There is no place to stop or turn back, just a place to get back on track and get courage from the Lord.
There will be many times on the mission field when you will make mistakes. You will get hurt and hurt others. Your disciples may be ready to see you gone just like happened with David.
Remember to get alone with the Lord. Get encouraged in what the Word of God says. Then step forward and allow God to continue using you. You are His servant. He will use you! Get your eyes on the One that is important in the equation!
