Deuteronomy 27:26 Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.
If you cannot obey all the words of the Bible then you are cursed. Being right is not based on doing pretty good or getting most of it right. It is either a pass or fail test. To pass you must get 100%. That is impossible. So the Law, God’s Word concludes that you cannot pass. You cannot do right! You have failed.
Only Jesus could keep the whole law so He did! He then took on Himself the curse of sin, our failures. So this chapter is a wonderful chapter full of curses. It warns of the curse that is ours. This curse drives us to Jesus! In Jesus we can be delivered from the curse, because He became the curse for us and took on our curse!
Tomorrow’s reading Deuteronomy 28
Counted to Him
Genesis 15:6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
God told Abraham what He would do. Abraham believed God. God counted his faith as all that was needed. God then counted, added, or put on his account His righteousness. It wasn’t what Abraham did but the fact that he simply believed.
Today we are saved the same way. It is not keeping the law, a moral code, or rules but rather believing that God through Jesus has satisfied all righteousness and applied it to us!
We can have security of salvation through this. It is like the first passage today! We were cursed. We deserved the curse but Jesus took our curse. We didn’t do anything worthy of being saved nor could we because we were already cursed.
What happened is that God made provision for salvation. We believed Him. He applied the righteousness of Jesus to our lives.
Is that a reality in your life right now? Do you know that you are saved not by what you have done or do but by what Jesus has done?
