Chris Gardner grew up on the mission field. He was saved at the age of 4 and moved with his family to Peru at the age of 12. Growing up on the field helped shape him and give him an incredible love and understanding for the Peruvian people and culture. His father’s faith, life, and ministry also stood as a strong testimony and example to Chris of the kind of man he wanted to be. Today, Chris is a missionary, church-planter, and dean of the Peru Baptist College.
Chris began pastoring at the age of 18 and has since planted and pastored several churches, including Iglesia Bautista El Faro (Lighthouse Baptist Church), Iglesia Bautista Fe (Faith Baptist Church), and Iglesia Bautista Omega (Omega Baptist Church), his most recent church plant. Chris is also the language school director of the Peru Baptist College and president of Television Mundial. Additionally, Chris mentors and helps church-planting pastors sent out of his ministry.
Chris met his wife, Andria, at a church Valentine’s banquet, and they were married a year later. For eight long years, they struggled to to have children. On July 26, 2004, the Lord blessed the Gardners by allowing them to adopt Jacob (15 months) & Hannah (2 months). In 2006, Andria gave birth to a little boy named Andrew, and he was later followed by baby Joshua in December 2010.
Peru has 20 cities with a population of about 100,000. It is Chris Gardner’s vision to see a church started in each one of these cities. He already has a church in six of these cities and is training and mentoring more men to start more churches. Few things bring Chris greater joy than being able to work with people and see the gospel advance.
