Genesis 12:1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
In Genesis 12:2 God is going to give a great promise to Abraham. It is so easy to get straight to the promise without realizing that it started with a command and then obedience. Abram was to get up and get out of his country. He was to go out to find what God had for him.
God did have great and eternal promises for Abram but the promise followed the obedience. God loves you and wants to work in your life. He is going to work in your life but you will decide to obey and follow him.
It is always two sided. God is the powerful one. He makes promises. He is able to do great and mighty things but He always asks us to step out and obey Him.
I challenge you to live a life of obedience. Do what He tells you. That is not legalism it is simply obedience. His Spirit fills us and empowers us to do what He calls on us to do. It is really grace because without His grace you would still be unable to obey!
What a wonderful God that loves us and makes such great promises to us!
