Today’s reading Revelation 13-17
Revelation 16:11 And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.
Amazing how hard the hearts of men can be! They were hurting. Their sins had brought consequences. They knew it. All they needed to do was repent but they refused.
Not only did they refuse but they blasphemed Him and blamed Him with their hurt! To blaspheme means to hurt the reputation, speak evil of, slander! It has the idea of trying to make God inferior, insulting Him, cursing Him, etc.
Can you see the hard hearted hatred they felt. They would not repent. They would rather stay in their pitiful condition than acknowledge God. They chose to blaspheme instead of repenting.
The question we should ask ourselves is, how do we handle hurts, problems, etc.? Do we see seek God and examine our lives or do we blame God? So many blame God for what He is doing. They do not seek Him, humble themselves before Him but rather blame Him and curse Him. They use their problems as an excuse to walk away from God.
Do you do that? Do you blaspheme instead of repenting?
