Chile with Jason Holt 1

Today on the podcast, Pastor Austin Gardner is joined by Jason Holt, veteran missionary in Santiago, Chile. Jason talks about how the Lord has blessed in Chile as well some struggles he has dealt with in the ministry. He and pastor discuss how Chile is far from being reached and how Latin America is still in desperate need of faithful gospel witnesses!

    • Church planting missionary in Santiago
    • Finished Deputation in nineteen months
    • Spent two years in Peru
    • Arrived in Chile in 2005
    • First church started in October of 2005
    • In 2008 the first few men surrendered
    • Now they have a Bible college and 10 churches
  • Other men Working with Jason
    • Jason Kinney was first
    • Ivan Chacon came from Peru
    • Jamie Smithy will be starting a church 
    • Daniel Sparks has already started a church
    • Stephen Carrier is on deputation 
  • The Need in South America
    • Some people think it is reached
    • Many people are still Catholic 
    • They believe in works salvation
    • Most evangelicals are pentecostal
    • Many believe in prosperity gospel
    • Only about 100,000 would not be pentecostal
    • That is out of 6,000,000 in the city
    • South America is not reached.
  • It Hasn’t Been Easy
    • People think Jason is just picking fruit.
    • It almost sounds too easy, but that’s not true
    • He’s had people fall in sin and quit
    • He’s had churches that have to close
    • They just share positives in prayer letters
  • The Need in Chile
    • Only 110 Baptist Churches
    • They average about 43 in attendance
    • That is only 4,500 people in Baptist churches
    • The whole country has 18,000,000 people
    • There are maybe a couple dozen missionaries
    • Most aren’t church-planters
    • Jason’s ministry has about 600 on Sunday
    • You’d need at least 140 churches in Santiago
    • There are only 45
    • Realistically you would need about 200-300
    • 50% of the Southern Baptists are pentecostal
    • People are pushing the need in other countries
    • That is okay, but South America is not reached
    • The country is very open
    • It’s time to hit the iron while it’s hot
  • Challenge to Young People
    • South America should be high on your list
    • Few Restrictions
    • Freedom to do open ministry
    • Language is not difficult
    • Most countries speak the same language
    • People are getting saved every week
    • Men are being called to the ministry
    • Now is the time
